Director Li Yuhua from Zhujiang Hospital of Southern Medical University Visits Wholly-Owned Subsidiary Junhou Bio for Exchange

On August 29, Professor Li Yuhua, Director of the Hematology Department at Zhujiang Hospital of Southern Medical University, Chairman of the Hematology Physicians Branch of Guangdong Medical Doctor Association, and Director of the Guangdong Provincial Engineering Research Center for Precision Immune Cell Therapy Technologies, along with Professor Xie Xiaoling and Dr. Hu Yuxing, visited Guangdong Junhou Biomedical Co., Ltd. (hereinafter referred to as "Junhou Bio"), a wholly-owned subsidiary of Shenzhen Cell Valley, for exchange and discussion. Our Chairman, Professor Shi Yuanyuan; Dr. Feng Yaru, Executive President and Production Director of Junhou Bio; and Zhang Xuefeng, Quality Management Director, extended a warm welcome and held a symposium.

Director Li and her delegation toured Junhou Bio's smart exhibition hall, as well as its production and quality testing laboratories. During the subsequent symposium, Chairman Shi Yuanyuan provided a detailed introduction to Junhou Bio's development history, core technology team, and recent product pipeline development achievements. Chairman Shi noted that Junhou Bio and Shenzhen Cell Valley currently share 7,000 square meters of B+A and C+A grade viral vector and cell product production workshops compliant with international GMP standards, along with P2 laboratories. Thanks to the opening of the Shenzhen-Zhongshan Link, the flow of cell therapy industry resources between Zhongshan and Shenzhen has become more convenient, enabling the gradual establishment of a complete industry chain spanning viral vector R&D, cell product manufacturing, and clinical application. Meanwhile, in the field of clinical treatment, Shenzhen Cell Valley has established close cooperative relationships with multiple domestic hospitals. Notably, Professor Guo Zhi's team at Huazhong Union Shenzhen Hospital used Anti-BCMA CAR-T and Anti-CD19 CAR-T prepared by Shenzhen Cell Valley to successfully treat a patient with drug-resistant refractory multiple myeloma and a patient with advanced relapsed follicular lymphoma, respectively. These treatment cases have been published in Heliyon, a JCR multidisciplinary Q1 journal under Cell, and International Immunopharmacology (CAS Zone 2), respectively. The success of these clinical studies signifies that Shenzhen Cell Valley's one-stop, full-process service from basic research to clinical translation has gained recognition from physicians.

Director Li Yuhua highly commended the progress made by Junhou Bio and Shenzhen Cell Valley in the cell therapy field. She introduced that the Hematology Department of Zhujiang Hospital of Southern Medical University ranks among the top in South China in terms of chemotherapy, transplantation, targeted therapy, and cell therapy for hematologic malignancies. As early as 2009, the department established the "Zhujiang Hospital Cell Immunotherapy Center." The department is dedicated to developing adoptive cell immunotherapy technologies for malignant tumors, including CART cell therapy. Recently, leveraging the department's excellent prior work, it received project support from the Guangdong Provincial Development and Reform Commission for the establishment of the Guangdong Provincial Engineering Research Center for Precision Immune Cell Therapy Technologies. 

This exchange aimed to deepen the strategic partnership between the Hematology Department of Zhujiang Hospital of Southern Medical University and Shenzhen Cell Valley, jointly advancing the R&D and application of cell therapy products and technologies through hospital-enterprise integration. Both parties expressed that, taking the opportunity of jointly establishing the Guangdong Provincial Engineering Research Center, they would fully leverage their respective strengths and engage in multi-channel, in-depth cooperation to bring more treatment options and better therapeutic outcomes to patients.

About the Hematology Department of Zhujiang Hospital of Southern Medical University

The Hematology Department of Zhujiang Hospital of Southern Medical University is a key specialty department integrating medical care, teaching, and research. It is a National Clinical Medicine Doctoral Degree Authorization Discipline and a Postdoctoral Research Station; one of the first qualified units for hematopoietic stem cell transplantation, unrelated donor hematopoietic stem cell transplantation, and collection; a training base for hematology specialists under the Ministry of Health; a key discipline of Guangdong provincial institutions of higher learning; a "Five-One Project" discipline leader unit of Guangdong Province; the Zhujiang Hospital Malignant Tumor Cell Therapy Center; and the Hematology Molecular Genetic Testing Center. The department currently consists of four functional units: general wards, hematopoietic stem cell transplantation wards, the hematology laboratory, and the tumor cell therapy center. It operates 88 beds, including 14 state-of-the-art laminar flow transplant beds in South China. The team comprises 55 medical and nursing staff, including 16 physicians (6 with senior professional titles and 11 with doctoral degrees), supported by a strong professional workforce. The department is equipped with a 500-square-meter specialized laboratory with comprehensive facilities capable of performing bone marrow morphology, chromosomal analysis, FISH, genetic testing, QRT-PCR, flow cytometry analysis, and other assays, providing reliable evidence for the diagnosis, risk stratification, prognosis assessment, and treatment guidance of leukemia, myeloma, lymphoma, and other diseases. The department's expertise in the diagnosis, chemotherapy, transplantation, targeted therapy, and cell therapy of hematologic malignancies ranks among the most advanced in China, with particular depth in haploidentical hematopoietic stem cell transplantation and the treatment of relapsed/refractory leukemia. Over the past five years, the department has completed over 400 transplant cases, maintaining a leading position domestically.
